About the Piano Level 2 Course:
The piano level 2 course focuses on mastering all the foundational blocks of piano playing before entering into the intermediate level. This is the last beginner level course which reviews all the topics from Foundation, Initial and Grade 1 levels.
A solid understanding of basic music theory, practice techniques, dynamic execution of pieces, shaping and articulation of phrases, scale fluency and precision during chord/harmony changes are the crux of this course.
Students will learn about chord extensions, voicings and jazz harmony and enter the world of jazz. They will master famous standard classical repertoire from the classical and romantic era which can be performed at recitals and concerts. All in all, they will be able to crack the Grade 2 certificate exam from any recognised international music exam board (RSL/Trinity).
Prerequisites:
- Age 8 years and above.
- Instrument (Piano).
- Interest in music and learning piano.
- Grade 1 Certificate (Music Pandit/ RSL/ Trinity or any Equivalent Board) or at least 2 years of formal keyboard/piano training/experience.

Assessment: Assessment will be based on a combination of quizzes, assignments, listening exercises, and performances.
Teaching Methods: The course will be taught through a mix of lectures, demonstrations, listening exercises, group discussions, and practical exercises using musical instruments or virtual tools.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will:
- Gain a technical understanding of initial grade repertoire.
- Nurture their ability to analyse and perform pieces involving both the treble and bass clef with ease.
- Develop the skill to include basic articulation and dynamics in every performance. Such as Piano, Forte and Mezzo Forte. Also grasp the initial understanding and execution of a Slur.
- Benefit from overall improved general musicianship with respect to sight reading, aural ability and general knowledge.
- Increased focus on coordination of Quarter Notes between hands.
- Have increased overall endurance with slightly longer pieces.
- Gain a better understanding of harmony with new inversions of the basic triads and form arpeggios.
- Master all the essential scales, arpeggios and techniques for the initial grade exam.
- Be prepared for Initial Grade Certificate exam from any recognised board (RSL/Trinity).
